Yvonne and Glen had the perfect wedding. I’d be happy to leave it at that and share their gorgeous photos but I thought it’d be nicer to ask Yvonne to share a little more to help you plan your perfect Central Coast wedding and to read a little about their story and what goes into organising, shopping and preparing for one of the biggest days of your life.
What’s the story behind the two of you (how and where did you meet)?
We have known each other for over 17 years, celebrating our 9 year anniversary the day before our wedding. For the first eight years we were just mates in the same circle of friends at school. Moving to Queensland in Year 11, Yvonne didn’t lose contact with her group of friends and would quite often visit Sydney or they would head up the Coast to visit her. Then in early 2003 after a trip to Cairns, we realized we wanted our friendship to become something more than just mates. We took another 8 months until we actually decided that we would give a long distance relationship a try.
We spent this time apart organizing and then going on an amazing overseas adventure and on our return we went home to our respective towns, but this was really difficult and Yvonne moved to Sydney soon after. Since this time we have had many more great overseas adventures and enjoy sport, fishing and boating together.
Can you tell me about the proposal?
This happened during our last trip away through South America when after an exciting time at the Galapagos Islands, snorkelling with heaps of marine life we sat back on the boat and reflected on the wonderful time we had and as the sun set, Glen went down on one knee and proposed, much to Yvonne’s surprise.
Where was the wedding and why?
We had our wedding on Deck 2 at the Haven in Terrigal followed by our reception at Reef Restaurant. We knew we wanted to get away from Sydney for the occasion and Terrigal is just a beautiful part of the world. We love the water and the laid back atmosphere that Terrigal has to offer.
Were you going for a certain theme or style?
We wanted a beach theme – just something that was casual and reflected on both of our personalities and loves.
Was there a journey in finding your dress?
I had my gorgeous bridesmaids and my mother with me when I found my dress. It was great to have the girls with me and able to help make the tough decision of what I liked and was most appropriate for our theme. There are so many beautiful dresses out there, it’s a tough call!

Jewellery and Accessories by:
I was lucky enough to be able to borrow my jewellery from one of my bridesmaids. It was the jewellery she wore for her wedding and looking at their beautiful marriage I hope that our life together is just as wonderful as theirs.
Hair and Makeup by:
Chic Artistry – the girls came to our hotel room and were just fabulous. They catered for all of our needs and were able to fit my mother and sister-in-law in too. It made for a very relaxing morning as we didn’t have to go anywhere and the girls were so experienced and helpful.

The Flowers by:
Angel Blooms – Tanya is an incredible florist. We met a few times with Tanya to ensure that the flowers were just perfect for the day. I told her the colours of the bridesmaid dresses and gave her a few suggestions of the coloured flowers that I would like and she brought the whole thing to life – designing a number of different bouquets until we got the one that was just right. I’m not someone who is very big on flowers but I absolutely loved them, they were so bright and happy – it made me smile every time I looked at them.
The Cake by:
The Sweetest Things – Julie was just amazing, we gave her a few ideas of what we would like in a cake and with her wealth of knowledge, skill and ability she made an incredible cake that people are still raving about.
Bomboniere:
We decided on giving the guests a gift that would be useful and a little bit fun and provided our guests with ‘flip flop’ bottle openers. We also provided dancing shoes, a pair of white thongs, for our guests.
A Memorable Moment from the day:
I don’t know if there was any one particular moment that stood out on the day. I loved it all. We had such a fun day with all of the special people in our lives.
The Honeymoon:
We were lucky enough to spend 10 days at the Six Senses Resort in the Maldives.
What is the most important piece of advice you would like to share with brides to be?
Have fun!! Spend time with your husband as much as you can at the reception and don’t sweat on the small stuff. It will be the most wonderful & fun day that you will ever have, it goes so quickly so be sure to lap it all up and don’t forget to HAVE FUN!
Do you have a favourite photo?
Gosh that’s a really hard choice…
How did you enjoy the photography part of the day?
The photography part of the day was so much fun! Andrew was an amazing photographer and made the entire bridal party feel comfortable in front of the camera. It was a nice time to spend with the bridal party and each other. It wasn’t hard work and didn’t feel like the whole thing was staged, it was just us all having a fun time with Andrew capturing it all.
The slideshow at the reception was a really nice touch and Ash did a great job of putting that together on the day. I had so many guests that commented on how much they loved the idea and thought it was a really special part of the reception. I also loved how Andrew managed to capture all of the special moments throughout the day in a discreet manner. All of the staff that we have had to interact with from Impact Images have been incredibly kind and professional and really helped to ensure that our day was a special one.
