I’m hosting a one off workshop for budding photographers at Terrigal Wednesday 19th December 5.30pm and it’s FREE.
The workshop will be an outdoor shoot with a model and you will be shooting! The session is for up coming photographers that have a basic grasp of exposure and camera settings.
What’s the Plan?
The plan is to have a relaxed shoot with instruction where I will cover what ever topics you like. I expect to be talking about the way I approach a shoot; posing, lighting, shooting in full sun, the shade, back lighting, framing an image and telling a story through photography.

Depending on the group, we may go into off camera flash, using reflectors, working with an assistant and some more advanced techniques.
We will have a model (a portrait client of mine) to keep the shoot as realistic as possible and will have the chance for a couple of outfit changes to demonstrate different styles and how you might approach the shoot differently.
I was thinking a casual relaxed style for one part of the shoot, a more formal style and a wedding gown depending on the group and feedback from those attending.
There is a maximum of 12 places and you must post below in the comments if you are interested.
Please, no just turning up on the day!
All you will need is your camera kit and questions. It doesn’t matter what camera or lenses you own – it will not be a camera equipment competition. Bring what you have and use it.
If you’re coming, you must be prepared to send our model a copy of your best images for her unrestricted use.
Why Am I Doing This?
I was approached to offer some one on one paid training which was great! When trying to work out pricing, it was just too difficult. I thought, ok, what about a group session to spread the costs and before I knew it, things were getting complicated and it’s just too busy at this time of year.
You must post in the comments below if you are interested
So, while in a Christmas and giving mood I thought – lets do a free workshop. No pressure, no stress, no notes and no preparation – well not much anyway. Just turn up and approach the shoot like I would every day except other photographers can ask questions and shoot away.
Hopefully it works well. I guess it will rely as much on you and your enthusiasm as it does me and my ability to share what I can.
If you have any questions or want to come along – post below 🙂

Thanks for including me. Where will it be at Terrigal?
No worries Andrew.
We’ll be meeting at or just near the boat ramp at Terrigal Haven – the main ramp, NOT the little one next to Reef Restaurant.
If any spots open up I’d love to come along!
Hey Brad – let’s say you’re in – lucky last as I’m pretty sure one or two won’t be able to make it on the day. See you then.
Looks like this workshop is full.
If it goes well and everyone enjoys it, I’ll do another in the New Year.
If there’s anything in particular anyone wants to cover, let me know – don’t be shy. Once someone starts, I’m sure more will come out, comment, question and make requests.
This sounds awesome. I would love to attend if you can squeeze one more in.
Thanks
Catherine

Hi Andrew
I would definetley be interested in attending your workshop if you are to hold another one in the New Year. But I will give you a call on Tuesday just in case I am lucky enough that someone should dropped out.
