This was a really cool wedding to photograph. Why? I think from the moment I turned up it was like photographing a friends wedding. There were some familiar faces from past weddings that I’d covered but it was more than that.
The complete day was being celebrated at Rafferty’s Resort at Lake Macquarie which meant that it wasn’t going to be a hectic day for anyone. No need to worry too much about times, beating the traffic, upsetting a waiting priest or an anxious chef – it was set to be a great day from the beginning and I guess that’s exactly what Kate had in mind when making the plans for this day. On top of that, the weather was PERFECT.
The complete day went off without a hitch. The guys were organised, on time and were quick to have a laugh and a joke. The girls all looked gorgeous and Kate, WOW – I could photograph her every day and never get enough of her amazing eyes. Stunning.
The garden ceremony with the lake as a backdrop was picture perfect. The atmosphere was pure happiness.
We had a two minute drive to Catherine Hill Bay for a relaxed location shoot with beautiful light, a few drinks for the bridal party and plenty of laughs.
The reception was a blur of fantastic food, great speeches, loud music and plenty of dancing.
What a day – I was lucky to be a part of it.

Kevin got the call up from Kate to join the bridesmaids as part of the bridal party. I believe he was actually responsible for introducing the two of them.

A nice touch during the ceremony was when a number of balloons were released in memory of grandparents that had passed away
I just received this lovely message from Kate and Chris:
Hi Andrew,
Chris & Kate Bannister here. After a whirlwind fortnight, we are finally getting around to dropping a quick line to say thank you so much for photographing our wedding! We had the most fun-filled beautiful day, from start to finish, and we are so glad we had you there to document it. Chris & Myself and our bridal party all felt totally relaxed with you around, you helped to make it a lot of fun! But the day it just flew by and we feel like we hardly got to thank you.
We had just arrived home from our Honeymoon, when I received your text, what a way to end a brilliant week. We are so stoked with the photos you posted on your blog AMAZING! We know its just a glimpse of the magic you captured. Your words described the day, just as beautifully as the photos. Our families loved being able to see them too, my Dad in particular, was just as excited as we were!
We are really looking forward to seeing the rest on Friday, hopefully you??ll be around so we can say thanks again in person.
Warm regards
Kate & Chris Bannister
