There is no better way to be invited to photograph a wedding than by a referral and what made Brooke and Dane so special is they were referred by more than just one person. When I turned up to photograph the boys, who were all running late and no where near ready – there was Ryan whose wedding I photographed six years ago. It was great to see him again and lucky for me, he got the guys into gear and sorted out in time for some photos. Lucky – otherwise Dane and I would both of had some explaining to do.
It was a short stroll to the homestead at Peppers to meet and photograph Brooke, her family and friends before the ceremony. It was lovely to see the family again as I had the pleasure of being part of her sister Renee’s wedding a few years ago. Needless to say, the girls were much more organised, looked gorgeous and everything ran smoothly, if not a little late.
The ceremony was held at St Patricks of Nulkaba, a beautifully kept, old sandstone chapel surrounded by leafy gardens in the heart of vineyard country. Following some family photos around the chapel it was off into the surrounding wineries and little country lanes for some photos of the bridal party before a reception at Peppers Guesthouse. Transport for the day were Graham’s (Brooke’s dad) lovingly restored vintage cars, complete with drivers, champagne and canapés.
The big surprise of the night was a fireworks display like no other I have ever witnessed at a private function – a simply amazing way to top off a spectacular day.
Congratulations to the two of you – see you soon.
