Simone had her baby after a twenty something hour labour. Linda and I received the SMS to say it’s been a tough start, little Amelia is having trouble breathing and is in special care.
Our first thought was poor Simone, poor Trent, this is not meant to be how it all starts.
I started thinking about their wedding, it wasn’t that long ago, a year, maybe 18 months.
It was pure happiness. Friends, family, food, laughter, perfect weather.
Not a care in the world and rightly so.
It was a celebration. Their day.
A high point or a snowy peak if life were a mountain range.
And now, what’s meant to be another high point has started with a little stumble.
From the outside looking in, we’re all reassuring, sending well wishes, prayers even.
I found the photo below from their wedding day. Yeah, I set up this photo to some degree – the candles for lighting, the location, even the positioning.
One thing I couldn’t do is manufacture that look, Simone’s touch, whatever it was they were feeling at that moment.
I look at this photo and know this is what life is all about.
Strength, reassurance, love, commitment. I see it all in this one photo.
I look at this and I know little Ameila will be just fine when she gets through her ordeal. She’ll be growing up with the kind of love and parents every child should have.
I look at this and realise what I’m photographing at weddings goes so much deeper than the fashion, the food, the styling or the location.
Our thoughts are with you guys!
