I saw Anna every morning at my “local” cafe while staying in Paris. She brought my espresso, followed a little later by a cafe au lait and small baguette with jam and butter while I tapped out a few emails before exploring the streets either on foot or by town bicycle.
The wifi was free and the atmosphere perfect. Street side tables with all the chairs facing the road.
The street would slowly come alive while Anna and her male co worker exchanged jokes and banter with each other and almost every passer by and patron. There wasn’t a whiff of stuffiness about the place or people… Don’t believe everything you hear.
It was nice to feel like a local, even if it was only for a few days and it was Anna and her cheery “bonjour” before she asked “cafe?” that made it so.
