Yesterday afternoon I was asked to capture some images of Jenny – a Central Coast ‘Body Sculpting’ competitor after just returning from a successful 4th place in the Universe titles at Brisbane on the weekend. Chatting to Jen through the shoot it was clear that it is a tough sport and takes some serious dedication.
Jen recently won two separate Australian titles and at 53 years of age she hasn’t finished with the sport yet – it’s just a matter of setting some new goals for the next season. I asked what goes into the final preparation for competition and it’s 16 weeks of serious dieting, 3-4 days of weight work and 5-6 days of cardio to strip off any body fat.
The dieting involves 16 small meals a day… (Linda thinks that means 16 little pieces of chocolate per day).
After training with the same personal trainer for 9 years and competing for 8, Jen thought it was time to get some photos while at her peak. These were the first professional images she has ever had taken and I’m sure that she and her family will look back on these with pride and awe.
I have to add a special thanks to Jen’s daughter Kim who assisted with reflectors and lighting on the outdoor part of the shoot and was almost dragged off the rocks and into the water with the large reflector and windy conditions.
