Hunter Valley Weddings just don’t get better than this! When I think of the perfect wedding, I picture two people in love, happiness, laughter, a romantic location, family, friends and something that I just can’t put my finger on – you know, the magic… it’s either there or it isn’t. Well, the wedding of Nicolette and Luke had the something special, the magic.
I think it’s fair to say, the magic comes from the couple – Nicolette and Luke have it.
I asked Nicolette all about her day and some advice for future brides, in the chance that anyone else getting married can capture a little magic for their day.
Luke and I met whilst we were working at McDonalds. He worked ‘out the back’ and I worked ‘out the front’ – the rivalry was fierce! We remained friends throughout the time we worked together and the friendship developed into more after we moved on to other jobs.
When Luke proposed, he had organised dinner at a restaurant. We got all dressed up and went out and during the meal a huge storm came over, complete with torrential rain, flash flooding and thunder. Running from the restaurant to the car we were drenched. Once home, he proposed, soaking wet on the living room floor. It was hilarious but perfect in every way!
We had our wedding at Peppers Creek Winery in the Hunter Valley. It was chosen after we visited the winery during Lukes sister, Lorraine’s Hens weekend in the Hunter Valley two years before. As soon as we were engaged, I told Luke I knew where I wanted to get married and he loved it too.
I wasn’t really going for a certain theme or style but have always loved the ‘vineyard look’ for photos so that was the motivation.
I found my dress originally in a Central Coast store. It was a new dress sent as a sample and it was silver (platinum) in colour at the time. I ended up purchasing the same dress from Park Avenue Bridal in Parramatta – in white of course.

Hair and Makeup by Chantel from Lush Hair Studio in Tumbi Umbi. Chantel travelled to the Crowne Plaza in the Hunter Valley to do all the girls hair. She is amazing!

The bomboniere were made by us! We used small jars filled with Hersheys’ Kisses imported personally from America by my Dad!
A Memorable Moment from the day that comes straight to mind was making my girls rush down to the chapel in their very high heels because I couldn’t wait to see Luke!!
We honeymooned at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.
The most important piece of advice I would share with brides-to-be is to take your time to plan and stick with your original ideas. I wanted bridesmaids dresses that were a little different to the traditional dresses that you see. After the fact, I am so glad that I searched for exactly what I wanted and have had so many compliments about them!
My favourite photos are the ones you took while we were ‘running through the vines’ – they were so much fun to shoot!
I loved the photography part of the day – between making me feel fabulous in front of the camera to making Luke and I laugh all the time, you were so easy going and professional. I could not praise you enough and have recommended you to many of my friends.

There’s nothing like being spoilt and fussed over on your wedding day

It would be difficult to find a happier bride than Nicolette on her wedding day

Workin’ it!

There were no shortage of laughs during the photo shoot – it was a fun and relaxing part of the day

We had John looking after the DJ/MC duties for Nicolette & Luke. His report from the night tells of a “Great night, loads of good dancing and fun had by all. Very nice couple and family.” We’re stoked to have been involved in this wedding!
