If great ocean views are part of your wedding plan then check out this stunning wedding of Ash and Paul.
In all my years of Newcastle wedding photography, this is the first time I’ve had the honour of shooting a wedding at Burwood lookout.
I have been to the lookout for other shoots but this is a wedding venue you simply can’t book, so Ash and Paul took a little risk in deciding that this was were they wanted to tie the knot.
Unbelievably, I don’t think I saw Ash or Paul sweat it up one bit as they arrived to claim the stunning views whilst their hundred or more guests looked on under Summer bliss.
There were a few bikers and sightseers but everything went according to plan, they claimed their spot, got married and the great weather beamed upon them!
From the lookout we made our way to Scenic Drive for some rustic fun before heading back to Newcastle Baths, then Noah’s on the Beach for the reception.
The baths were packed so Ash, Paul and I slipped down the side, away from the other weddings and commotion to grab our own space with some stunning water shots. Followed by stunning views at Noah’s.
Noah’s on the beach is a great Summer wedding venue (or anytime through daylight saving) as the views last late into the evening.
Keep this in mind if you are booking a beachfront venue outside of Summer. The views when you arrive for your reception are quite often gone as the sun has set and it’s dark outside.
A friend of mine was planning a Winter wedding at a stunning Newcastle reception venue only to realise that once they were all inside it would be pitch black outside with no beach views.
Sounds like common sense but it can be easily overlooked and disappointing when you arrive at your reception. Your options are to arrive back early for your reception, have a lunch time wedding or plan your wedding around when these venues are at their best and you can soak up the views.
