I’ve had a great couple of shoots experimenting with a new technique that we can now happily offer to you if you’d like to have some light painting photography for your Central Coast wedding. Obviously, these images can only be created at night time but will work in just about any location or venue.
The best time for shots like these on your wedding day would be just before cutting your cake or first dance, alternatively, after a few dances when you can sneak away for five minutes to create some amazing images of you and your partner. These style of images could also be shot after your wedding day as part of a “trash the dress” style of shoot.
For this style of photography to work, an assistant and some planning is required but we can cover those details if this is something that interests you.
For Central Coast weddings, the cost is $150 and for Hunter Valley and Newcastle weddings, $250. This covers the cost of one fire twirler, the fire works and any travel costs.
Who is the lucky bride in these photos?
Elyse and Ali are featured in the images for this post and although planning to marry in 2014, aren’t actually married yet. I met both Elyse and Ali when they were considering Impact Images for their wedding photography and it turns out Ali is a talented, passionate, bordering on obsessive, photographer himself.
During our wedding consultation chat, Ali had a handful of landscape photos on his iPhone featuring the fireworks and light painting images he had taken recently. After some discussion and a little planning, a bridal gown from the incredibly talented Kel-Leigh Couture was organised for Elyse and a date booked for a trial shoot at Forresters Beach. You can see some of the results below.
Following the fun at that shoot, we had a follow up shoot at Long Jetty to get things dialled in and a couple of photos with Ali as well – after all, it would be unfair to only have photos of a bride on her wedding day without at least some with the groom.
Everything went great at both shoots and it’s Ali himself that will be on hand to do the fire twirling at your wedding if you want something colourful and original for your wedding day.

You can see a framed printed version of this image at both Kel-Leigh Couture and Forresters Beach Resort.

Elyse looked amazing in her Kel-Leigh gown and loved “working it” for the camera in her wedding day trial – although she did well to brave the cold.

This is one of the images from the Long Jetty shoot and was taken not long after sunset which resulted in a little more colour in the night sky.
