Do you know a plumber with a leaking tap, a builder with an incomplete house or a painter with unfinished walls? I think I fit into that category as a photographer without enough photos of my kids. Especially so as they’ve reached their teenage years and it’s just not “cool” to have your photo taken by your dad.
Sure it’s fine if they’re snap chatting, posting to “insti” or Facebooking but it’s a whole different story if I want to get a decent shot of the two of them. Seriously, I have to book the shoot in! What’s the go with that?
Anyway, the shot above is a favourite of mine. Definitely not the most recent, I love it none the less. I love how it’s just them, unimpressed but standing there anyway, for me, in a great location not far from home to have their photo taken.
I love how much they’ve grown up since then and every day I’m surprised at how fast time is flying.
I love how they’re changing, arguably slowly sometimes, from boys to men.
I love both of them and I love that I have photos of them, even a few, as they’re progressing through life.
I even love Roxy a little bit… but don’t tell her mother… I mean Linda.

As soon as I saw this image it reminded me of when I was young. I was constantly being made the model for my photo mad parents and thinking how annoying it was. But now I know I will do the exact same with my kids.
Great shot
Yeah, that’s the problem with youth – it’s wasted on them 🙂
My boys, like you and me at that age by the sound of it, don’t realise the value of these photos till they get older.
Thanks Andrew
