With more Newcastle and Hunter Valley wedding venues and photographers booking out more than 12 months in advance, many couples are now choosing the weekday weddings option.
A weekday wedding can also be a preferred date for some couples due to anniversaries and special days or dates.
Over the next few months, I’ll be photographing three Friday weddings, a Tuesday and Thursday wedding.
Weekdays allow more time to book your services and generally means not having to stress about everyone else wanting to book the same date and service as you.
Your guests will love the opportunity to take a long weekend.
The general feel I get from couples having a weekday wedding is they are more relaxed. They get the services, locations and times they want. They rarely hear the words “sorry, we are booked on that date”.
You may also find, venues and services can offer better deals on weekday weddings. Some venue’s drop as much a $20 per head for a weekday wedding.
Emma, featured in the photos below, a photographer in regional NSW, was keen to have something a little different to the Saturday weddings she is used to photographing.
We had the beautiful Hunter Valley Gardens all to ourselves for photographs – a rare treat!
During the ceremony it rained. Since there were no other weddings in the Gardens that day, we were free to use the on site Chapel for the ceremony instead. I guarantee this would have been booked out on a regular Saturday and it was DEFINITELY better than using a function room for shelter during the ceremony. It was just gorgeous and not too far removed from the initial plan of a garden ceremony
My back up wet weather option for photos was a nearby winery. This too would have been closed on a Saturday! Since the winemaker was still hard at work, we were able to sneak around into the barrel room for photographs. This would not have happened on a weekend wedding in the Hunter Valley!
Each to their own, but as someone who photographs weddings most Saturday’s, I love a relaxed weekday wedding.
Congrats Emma and Brian for such an amazing day, I hope that your European holiday is all you dreamed it to be, see you when you return to the land of OZ.
